Gakjab Salim is a site that collects genuinely useful free web tools for everyday life and work, one at a time. We build tools around one question — "does this actually help someone make a real decision?" — rather than piling on flashy features. We currently run the Salary Negotiation Calculator, the Room Furniture Layout Simulator, the Resignation Timing Calculator, the Couple Referee, the Minecraft Seed Recommender, the Keyword Checker, and the Fishing Tide Guide, with the YouTube Transcript Extractor currently in preview while its backend is finished. We plan to keep adding more.
Salary Negotiation Calculator
The Salary Negotiation Calculator answers the two questions job-seekers care about most when facing a job change or salary negotiation — "is this offer fair?" and "how much does my take-home pay actually change?" — on a single screen.
Resignation Timing Calculator
The Resignation Timing Calculator uses your start date to compute the date your severance pay kicks in and the date your next batch of paid leave accrues, then recommends a resignation date that captures both. Below that is a quick click-through self-check on why you're considering leaving (a reference tool, not a substitute for professional advice).
Couple Referee
The Couple Referee is a for-fun reference tool: each partner writes their side of a dispute, and five judges with different personalities each rule based on their own criteria. Rulings use AI — both partners' written answers are sent to an AI model provider for judging (not stored, discarded right after judging). If the AI can't be reached, it automatically falls back to a rule-based ruling using only the multiple-choice answers, and the result screen shows which method was used. It's designed to only take a side when the fault is genuinely clear, and switches to support-resource guidance instead of a ruling if it detects signs of physical threats or violence.
YouTube Transcript Extractor (backend in progress)
The YouTube Transcript Extractor will take a YouTube link and show the transcript YouTube already generated (auto or manual) as timestamped text. Clicking a line jumps the video to that moment, and you'll be able to search and copy within the text. Since it pulls existing captions rather than running new speech recognition, videos without captions aren't supported, and there's no AI summarization. The screen is live now, but it won't actually work until the backend is deployed.
Keyword Checker
The Keyword Checker takes a page link and ranks the SEO keywords actually present in the title, meta description, heading tags (H1–H3), and body copy, alongside candidate keywords worth adding. It's not full morphological analysis, so results are approximate, and suggested keywords are candidates only — actual search volume isn't verified. Shopping-site product links that block automated access (like Coupang) aren't supported.
Fishing Tide Guide
The Fishing Tide Guide only needs three picks — region, technique, and target species — to recommend real shore-fishing spots from a set of 1,076 points built on Korea's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries open data. Today's tide phase number is calculated precisely from the lunar calendar, while exact high/low tide times will arrive once the backend integration ships. Coordinates are approximate, so cross-check with the map link and conditions on the ground.
Minecraft Seed Recommender
The Minecraft Seed Recommender picks from 5,204 seeds based on your taste. Answer four questions — edition, play style, landscape, and nearby structures — and seeds with documented features are matched and scored against your answers, while seeds without documented features yet are marked "features unconfirmed" so you can explore them yourself. Seed data is compiled from public guide sites and communities, so it's secondhand information and may differ from the actual in-game terrain.

Data sources and methodology
Take-home pay is calculated from Korea's four major social insurance rates (national pension, health insurance, long-term care, employment insurance) and the National Tax Service's simplified withholding tax table. Average salaries by role and experience are based on public data (the Wage Information System, etc.) from the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Employment Information Service. The headcount shown alongside your position is approximated by mapping Statistics Korea's Economically Active Population Survey major job categories onto our 22 role categories (e.g. developers, IT, and research roles are approximated under the "professionals and related workers" category, roughly 6.25 million people).
Limitations
The figures these tools produce are for reference only and carry no legal or financial weight. Your actual numbers will vary based on dependents, tax-free items, and your employer's specific policies. Please confirm your own situation against official sources before making final decisions or negotiating.
